Osaka City University Hospital will open the Advanced Medical Center for Preventive Medicine (tentative name) in the spring of 2014. The Center will focus on health promotion, disease prevention, early detection and early treatment of illnesses. It will be located on the 21st floor of the Abeno Harukas building, now under construction at the Tennoji-Abeno public transport terminal in Osaka City.

The Center will make use of the high-skilled staff and advanced medical technology of Osaka City University Hospital for the early detection of diseases such as cancer, strokes, heart disease, diabetes, mental disorders, liver and lifestyle disease. Being located in the direct vicinity of the Osaka City University Hospital itself, any necessary specialized treatment can immediately be offered by the hospital, whilst the Center will also cooperate with other regional hospitals extensively. Additionally the Center will function as a consultation center for stress, fatigue and women’s health.

The Center also plans to build a bio-repository, or bio-bank, of medical data and materials collected from patients (upon consent) in medical examinations, such as blood, urine samples and DNA to deepen the understanding of cause and effect of diseases and ultimately to improve or find new treatments.?

The Abeno Harukas building is located right across from Osaka City University Hospital and will be the tallest skyscraper in Japan. The Tennoji-Abeno public transport terminal, serving 7 train and subway lines, offers excellent accessibility.
