2013 JICA training program 「Photovoltaic Power Generation Technology (A)」
From 24 June to 26 August 2013 Osaka City University (OCU) will host a group of trainees from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This year’s training is the 3rd and last edition of the 4th (2011~2013) JICA trainee program, commissioned by the JICA Osaka International Center. The same as last year, the 2-month training project will focus on photovoltaic power generation technology and dissemination of its use. The trainees come from countries that have introduced or plan to introduce independent power supply systems, and in particular solar home systems. The 9 participants of this year’s program are from Bhutan, Burundi, Fiji, Kenya, Malawi, Maldives, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Tonga.?
The group will hear lectures from 9 professors from the OCU Graduate School of Engineering, specialized in a wide range of fields such as electronics, machinery, physics, chemistry and architecture. In addition, companies specialized in power storage equipment, battery regeneration and re-use, and companies offering total solutions from development and manufacturing of solar cells to design of photovoltaic power generation systems will contribute to the training program.?
The teachers, graduate students and staff of OCU all hope that through the varied program the trainees will gain a profound knowledge of photovoltaic systems, in particular solar home systems, and that they will be able to apply their knowledge in their home countries.?
