OCU Students at Badminton Goodwill Games in Shenzhen, China

The “One Belt, One Road” Badminton Goodwill Games for Asian university students took place in Shenzhen, China from 13 to 17 November, 2018. Osaka City University (OCU) received an invitation from City of Shenzhen, one of the sister cities of Osaka City, and two students (Tatsuya Takami, 4th year student, Faculty of Economics and Kei Nakai, 1st year master’s student, Graduate School of Science) participated in it.

This event was held to give an opportunity to the youths in each Asian city to aim for deepening friendship through goodwill badminton games and providing opportunities for networking and introducing charm and beauty of Shenzhen, an innovative city which has been challenging for the future. Besides Japan students from Korea, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia also participated. Below is schedule of the event.

【Event Schedule】

Tuesday 13 November:
? Transfer to Shenzhen
? (Evening) Introduction of the event and the participants

Wednesday 14 November:
? (Morning) Opening ceremony at Shenzhen University and badminton goodwill games
? (Afternoon) Visit to companies

Thursday 15 November:
? (Morning) Visit to Shenzhen University
? (Afternoon) Visit to a high school in Shenzhen
? (Evening) Reception - Making Chinese dumpling “jiaozi” or pot stickers

Friday 16 November:
? (Morning) Visit to the “High Tech Fair”
? (Afternoon) Visit to the Shenzhen Industrial Exhibition Hall, China Folk Culture Village and a get-together around a bonfire

Saturday 17 November: Return to Japan 

The students said the five days in Shenzhen were fulfilling as they could make friends with overseas students, visit and experience various facilities in Shenzhen besides badminton games.
