On November 3, 2020, OCU opened an exhibition room to commemorate the 140th anniversary of its founding. Approximately 100 historical materials and academic specimens invaluable to the university are lined up in a section of the historic yet modern Building No. 1 in the Sugimoto Campus - a registered tangible cultural property.

Important specimens include ancient human bones, underground cross-sections of the Osaka Plain, ancient documents, etc., and materials related to Osaka, such as university historical documents and the nature and history of Osaka.

The opening ceremony was held in front of Building No. 1. President Tetsuo Arakawa and Vice President Takanobu Kiriyama (who was given the tentative name Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Establishment of the University History Museum) gave their greetings, presented the valuable exhibits, and gave speeches on future developments.

President Arakawa then carried out a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Takao Kodama, Chairman of the Alumni Association, and Isao Yuasa, Chief Secretary of the OCU Education Supporters Association.

* The exhibition room is open to the public (free of charge) and is scheduled to be open until mid-December or later by appointment. Details will be announced on the 140th Anniversary website.
