"Indian Day" held at the Global Village
On 20 May, the second event in the Country Series was held at the OCU Global Village. Below is a report by the organizing student himself:
*** Indian Day @ Global Village ***
Global Village is a great initiative of the Global Exchange Office of Osaka City University to encourage? students of all nationalities to get together and share their thoughts. Fortunately, I had got a chance to arrange an event called "Indian day" on 20, May 2016 (Friday) to share and discuss about Indian tradition, culture, religion, language, festival, science & technology etc. Around 40 people were attended including professors, visiting researchers, students etc.?

Event informally started at 12:30 PM and posters about Indian tourist destination and culture were explained from 12:30 to 1:00.

From 1:00? to 1:15? PM, Welcome speech and brief introduction have been given by Vinayraj Poliyapram (PhD candidate at OCU).
From 1:15 to 1:45 PM Akira Taniguchi (visiting researcher at OCU) has delivered speech about his experience of visit in India for a vacation. He is interestingly explained in detail about his day-to-day life in Indian beautiful cities called New Delhi and Jaipur with help of videos and photos.
From 1:45 to 2:15 PM, Prof. Takeji Takui (retired professor at OCU) has delivered speech in Science and Technology session about recent bilateral collaborative projects between OCU and India. It was a new experience for the audience to know about the high level scientific research collaborations.
From 2:15 to 2:25, Mr. Vinayaraj Poliyapram? gave short speech about Indian foods has been delivered; meanwhile free Indian snacks (Samoosa, Sonapapdi and milk tea) are distributed to the audience. Audience enjoyed eating Indian snack while listening the presentation about Indian food.

From 2:25 to 3:15 PM, Ms Manami Sensei (South Indian tradition dance teacher in Japan) has delivered presentation, practical session and trained to wear Saari (Indian traditional female dress). She had given brief introduction about Indian gods with beautiful posters and classical dance called Bharathanatyam.
Further, she helps audience to wear Saari and all who wear indian traditional dresses get together and pose for photo.
Then she started showing a few steps of classical Indian dance, all the audience have been asked to follow her and it was really an awesome experience to learn simple steps of Bharathanatyam.
From 3:15 to 3:30 PM, Mr. Vinayaraj Poliyapram gave a presentation about Indian festivals include National festivals, religious festivals and harvesting festivals etc.
From 3:30 to 4:00 PM, Mr. Vinayaraj Poliypram has given brief introduction about Indian movies and further Indian movie song karaoke was followed. Mr. Hirufomi Hayashi (Visiting researcher at OCU), Le Bien (Master student at OCU) and Mrs. Aparna were participated in the Indian Karaoke and sung Indian songs beautifully.?
